Challenge
SoulCalibur is one of the biggest fighting game franchises in the world. The fifth entry in the series introduces all-new characters and a whole new storyline. It also introduces crossover characters from the Assassin's Creed games.
I was tasked with designing the game’s packaging for this game. I also helped out with many aspects of the art book and the game's special edition packaging.
Outcome
For this design, I use the game’s lore and aesthetic to drive design decisions. I wanted to make sure it felt authentic and fit in with the previous games. I use textures that made the pages in the manual feel like old manuscripts. For the back of the box I highlighted the important characters and key game features.
Results
This was a fun project for me because I have always been a massive SoulCalibur fan. The game was very well received and sold over 1 million copies with a Metacritic score of 77.
