Situation

Type specimen books are mini catalogs that serve as a way for customers to see how a typeface or font might look when used in a printed format. They are typically fun and concept driven. Unfortunately some typefaces are more ornamental and are difficult to use in everyday practical applications.

I wanted to take on the challenge of creating a book for typefaces that had almost zero practical use. The concept was a book about earth written an aliens perspective. 

Because this book was from an aliens perspective I was able to use the non letter fonts for the alien languages and for texture. The book also features pages printed on paper and also printed on clear plastic sheets. I also included a font file on a memory card that was designed to be a transferable source of knowledge from the aliens to all of mankind.  

Result

The final book turned out great, I love the 90’s futurist aesthetic it has.
